The initial stage BVS Canada take in health and safety program development is a short meeting to better understand your business process and requirements. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about developing your health and safety system and how to implement within your company.

Why Is a Safety Program Required?

Canadian health and safety legislation requires employers to have a health and safety program in their workplace. A written occupational health and safety policy helps promote an effective OHS program. Such a policy should reflect the special needs of your workplace and should be regularly reviewed and updated.

In the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act “health and safety program” means a coordinated system of procedures, processes and other measures implemented by an organization to promote continuous improvement in occupational health and safety.

An OHS program is a tool which promotes health and safety and minimizes the risk of injury and illness.
